I am not interested in seeing what you can do, you know it, I know it, I am interested in seeing what you can't do. It is in this exploration and failure that your growth will come!

In my work as a Practitioner, Acting Coach and Lecturer I prioritise reflexivity, consistently questioning and evolving my methods to ensure that support and development remain central. Drawing from my training under Philippe Gaulier and my studies at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, I have developed a pedagogical approach influenced by Gaulier’s ‘Via Negativa’, though I adapt and use this method in my own positive way. Rather than perpetuating a guru-like dominance, I focus on supporting learners to find answers for themselves, encouraging autonomy and self-discovery. As Viola Spolin, the great Improvisation pioneer, suggests, talent is simply a greater capacity for experiencing; therefore, I encourage students to engage fully, using mistakes as opportunities for growth, critical reflection, and the honing of their judgement.

I aim to foster inclusivity, diversity, and play in my work, beginning with games that establish safety, fun, and openness. I integrate playful observation; to help students move beyond prescriptive training and cultivate processes unique to each performer. This environment nurtures students’ willingness to explore, take risks, and reflect objectively, intertwining their individuality with rigorous artistic development. Ultimately, my practice is characterised by creating a culture where openness, playfulness, and the freedom to fail enable each learner to progress and discover their own artistic voice.
